Save Money On Office Cleaning

This is something I'm sure most employers have thought of at some point when wanting to make cut backs. But does cutting back on the cleaning really save you money in the long run?

money

I think when looking at the pros and cons of having a regular clean in the office, most of us can agree that the pros win. For those who are unsure here's just a few reason why you should have your offices regularly cleaned.

Cleaner cost vs Sick day cost

For the amount of money you will save from not having regular cleaners you will be guaranteed to lose in sick days, especially over winter. The common cold is contagious for the first 2-3 days but can still be passed on to others for up to a week. This could reach most of your staff very quickly and keep on being passed around.

Cold & Flu epidemic in the office

When winter kicks in and illnesses start spreading round the office like wildfire this is not going to help with that ever increasing workload. For some businesses the run up to Christmas is the busiest time of the year but it is also prime time for illnesses. Is this really going to save you money? Or make work life more stressful and potentially disappoint clients?

Health and Safety Act

Are you following the law? According to HealthyWorkingLives the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 states that ‘They place duty on employers to make sure that the workplace is safe and suitable for the tasks being carried out there, and that it does not present risks to employees and others.’ This covers cleanliness and waste materials so by law you will need to cover this.

First impressions

A dirty office also creates a bad first impression to any clients walking in. If you can’t even employ someone to keep on top of the dust how are you going to be able to help them. This may also make people feel uncomfortable when visiting as most people these days are very aware of hygiene.

Still want to cut back on cleaning?

If you still want to cut back on cleaning you can opt for periodic cleaning instead of daily cleaning. This could help you save money where you need to without the completely cutting back.

Periodic cleans

This will still get your offices cleaned to a good standard but on a weekly or fortnightly basis. It could even be monthly, that decision is down to you and your budget.
